The Basic Emergency Stroke Transport (B.E.S.T.) EMS Training Program, developed and conducted by The Stroke Group, has received overwhelmingly positive response from training participants.  Over 2000 EMS personnel in more than 50 cities throughout the nation have attended BEST training programs. The B.E.S.T. training curriculum was designed and instructed by EMS personnel, neuro-nurses, and physicians expert in stroke care and related issues.  EMS administrators, chiefs and paramedics alike have praised the program.  These testimonials document that this training is positively impacting the way EMS personnel view and respond to stroke calls.

Now this same highly rated, comprehensive training is available in a convenient and affordable video-based instructional package.  This new all-inclusive program provides guidance on all aspects of EMS response to calls from suspected stroke victims and includes scenes from actual onsite training presentations.  The B.E.S.T Training Package includes this printed Guide and the course instruction available in either a VHS-video or DVD disk format.

The goal of the B.E.S.T. What EMS Personnel are saying about  B.E.S.T.  Stroke Training

EMS Personnel:

Probably one of the best presentations I have been to.”  (Berkeley, CA)

One of the best continuing education events I have attended in 4 years.”  (Hershey, PA)

I thought the class was excellent. No suggestions for improvement.”  (Raleigh, NC)

Just give it to more people – great program.”  (Tucson, AZ)

Best class in a long time.  (Schenectady, NY)

Great job!  More tools for the toolbox.”  (Littleton, CO)

This was one of the “Best” EMS training classes I have attended.  I appreciate the

instructor’s time, talent and effort he put into this class.” (Englewood, CO)

Fire Chiefs  (EMS Administrators)

We had a transport policy in place that wasn’t specific - no type of guidelines.  The B.E.S.T. training was the impetus for us developing a policy that includes standing orders, pre-hospital checklist, divert policy, thrombolytic checklist and receiving hospital notification.  We probably would not have implemented this needed change without your program,”

 EMS Director, Indiana

In the twenty one years of being a paramedic I have never attended training that brought out the level of understanding of pre-hospital stroke treatment this well.  Attention to the subtle signs of stroke and the timetable for definitive care essentially redefined what we will do for possible stroke patients.  I only hope that you understand the impact you will have on future pre-hospital stroke management,”

EMS Director, Englewood, CO

Physicians

The BEST presentation helped to raise the awareness of our EMS personnel about the importance of treating stroke as a real emergency.  It provided a very useful review about how to identify, evaluate and start to treat patients who may be having a stroke.”

ED Physician, Manhasset, NY.

This program is providing the EMS personnel with the tools and information to make a difference in the outcomes for stroke patients.  We need more educational opportunities like this one.”

Neurologist, Albuquerque, NM
